Forever Young Denise
Austin Prescribes "Anti-Aging Pill"

Family, fitness, and fun are the three words that come to mind after
talking with Exercise Guru Denise Austin. If you have ever wondered
if “America’s Favorite Fitness Expert” is really as animated and
positive in real life as she is on her TV programs and videos, be
rest assured that she is.
The
California native and current Washington, D.C. area resident is full
of energy, love for her audience, and has a genuine passion for what
she does. She loves her family (husband and two daughters) and is
dedicated to her expertise, having recently been appointed to the
President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
|
As I
interviewed her, she was at her home office in the middle of a typical
busy day of business and interviews.
Denise has a
new video coming out August 19 called “Denise Austin’s Shrink Your Female
Fat Zones,” a compliment to her new book by the same title. The set focus
on a four-prong approach to living a healthy life: walking, stretching,
toning, and healthful eating.
|
With
Denise’s audience being primarily women, the book and video are
specifically targeted for counteracting spots and problem areas that
women face, such as bulging hip areas or flabby arms.
“The
way to truly shrink your female fat zones is eating right,
exercising aerobically to shed the pounds in the whole body from
head to toe, and toning up specific areas,” says Denise.
When asked what she would consider the best way to fight age, with
herself as a testament to her prescription, she says “The number one
thing I tell everyone is that fitness, staying in shape, and
exercise is the best anti-aging pill you can take. It truly is the
magic potion. Staying in shape and staying fit really keeps you
young.” |

forever
young with regular exercise and healthy eating. |
With the 46
year old not looking a day over 30 (if that!), she says that when you’re
in shape “you walk with grace, you move like you’re young, and you are not
only fit but also you keep your metabolism up.”
Denise
remarks that as we age our metabolism naturally goes down. So, to fight
that natural downward progression, exercise is needed to keep up your
metabolism. Plus, “if your muscles are firmed and toned, nothing will
droop or sag,” adds Denise, who doesn’t let a free moment get away during
the day without plugging in some type of yoga, stretch, tummy tuck,
triceps toner (even while on the phone!), or short walk.
When asked
if she thought her “anti-aging pill” would also help our faces look good,
she told me “Oh definitely, yes. The more weight you have on your face,
the more you might become the double-jaw line or something will start to
droop more because gravity is pulling it all down. So, of course it
helps.”
“I used to
go a week without working out, but now I see the difference. So, (with
age) you have to be a little more committed to fitness.”
Almost
unbelievably, Denise is entering her 18th season on television. She was
on ESPN for 10 years, then moved to Lifetime TV in 1997 with two shows:
“The Daily Workout” centered on aerobics and weight training, and “Fit and
Lite” focused on yoga at beautiful spas. She continues at Lifetime with
her demanding shooting schedule, including 65 new episodes of each show
for each season.
Having
been on television so long, does she view her audience differently? “No,
not really,” says Denise. “Exercise is ageless. You want to stay in
shape no matter how old you are. I’ve moved with the trends of exercise
itself, like yoga, Pilates, weight training, and the ball. So, I’ve
evolved through all the trends in exercise and fitness, but I do a little
bit of everything and believe that mixing it up is the best way to keep
your body in tip-top shape.”
