But, whether
its your pad or theirs, a house should be your home...a place of warmth,
love, comfort, and security.
Part of
creating a beautiful space that promotes wellness and happiness is the
application of light.
When I spoke
to Feng Shui Expert Jayme Barrett (www.jaymebarrett.com)
on a recent trip I took to Los Angeles, she told me that light can make a
big difference in how we feel.
Light,
especially sunlight, lifts the energy of a room, brightens your day,
expands the space and inspires new ideas, says Barrett in her beautiful
new book
Feng Shui Your Life. A radiant
combination of sunlight, lamps and fire strengthen the energy in your
home, evoking a more positive outlook for you and your family.
One of the
ways to use light is through candles, which in Feng Shui are used to
cleanse the space of stress and bring positive energy into your home.
The fire element of Feng Shui can be represented by a candle.
Heres some
candle tips from Jayme:
Gently focus
your eyes on the flame of a candle to quiet the mind and invoke spiritual
energy.
Place
candles in front of a mirror to double the flickering magic of the fire.
Add
essential oils to your candles to promote relaxation, balance, and
rejuvenation plus they add a pleasing fragrance to the home.
Combine
lamps, wall sconces, candles, and light from the fireplace to diffuse and
soothe energy at days end.
In Feng Shui,
candle colors are also used to evoke feelings: blue and purple for
calmness, red and orange to stimulate, pink for love and harmony, and
green for healing and naturels restorative energy.
